SIXTEEN NATIONS TO COMPETE IN TIJUANA AND MEXICALI
Tijuana and Mexicali, September 10, 2015 - The Baja California High Performance Centre as well as the Mexicali State Auditorium will receive a total of sixteen nations as the FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship starts on Friday.Actions begin at noon when Mexicali hosts the match between the four times champion Brazil and Cuba, that are always contendersBoth teams are part of Pool C along with China and Iran. Meanwhile in Pool D, Italy, France, Japan and Slovenia will also be part of the celebration at the Sports City Complex.Meanwhile in Tijuana, the opening ceremony will take part at the High Performance Centre, but previously actions will open in Pool A, composed by Mexico, Canada, Egypt and Turkey.Pool B is composed of the five times champions Russia, as well as Poland, The United States and Argentina.The teams that finish in number 1 and 2 positions in their pools will advance to the second round for the first eight places of the tournament.The rest of the teams will contend for places 9 to 16.Fort he seventh time in history, Baja California host a Volleyball World Championship, after organising 1974 senior tournament, as well as the U20 and U19 Women’s and Boys’ competitions in 2007 and the Women’s U20 tournament in 2009.Also in 2013 this northwestern region of Mexico hosted two tournaments: the Boys’ U19 Championship and the first ever edition in the Women’s U23 category.
