ARGENTINIAN COACH GLAD FOR THE VICTORY AGAINST A GREAT OPPONENT
Tijuana, Mexico, September 13, 2015 - Argentina reached the second phase of the tournament as part of the top eight teams. The victory over Poland opened the door to the team coached by Alejandro Grossi, to be among the world's elite in the U21 category.
“We are really happy for two reasons. The first one is for qualifying to the next round and continue playing to finish among the best of this World Championship and the second reason is because we played very well,” said Grossi.
“Poland is always a very tough opponent and I am sorry because a team like Poland is out of the top eight. I’m glad because we defeat a great opponent and we are still on track to close along with the best teams of this world championship.”
Captain Gaston Fernandez who has been a great weapon of Argentina, celebrated at the end of the match along with his teammates and some compatriots who visited the High Performance Centre to support their team.
“I’m very happy. We played against a great rival and the way we closed the match was full of emotions. We played well, gave the best. The Polish are like Russia, they hit, and attack. Fortunately we could make it,” Fernandez stated.
“I really don’t know what to say. This was our worst game of the tournament,” said Aleksander Silwka. “The team of Argentina played better, did better things and congratulations to them.”
For the coach of Poland Jakub Bednaruk this was a pretty sad moment.
“We could not reach the middle blockers of Argentina. Their setter played very well, our service was not good enough to do something. It was the biggest lost in my life. I am full responsible for it because we came here to fight for a medal and now we go to Mexicali and fight for ninth place,” he said. “These are my choices, my responsibility and I take this lost on my shoulders”.
